What is a Coronavirus?
Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses that cause illness ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases. They infect the respiratory system. Common signs of infection include fever, cough, shortness of breath, and breathing difficulties. In more severe cases, an infection can cause pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure, and even death. 2019 Novel Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) is a new strain of coronavirus.
WHAT ARE SYMPTOMS OF CORONAVIRUS?
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recently broadened the guidelines for coronavirus testing.
People with COVID19 have had a wide range of symptoms reported – ranging from mild symptoms to severe illness.
Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus. People with these symptoms may have COVID19:
- Muscle or body aches
- Headache
- New loss of taste or smell
- Sore throat
- Fever or chills
- Cough
- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- Fatigue
- Congestion or runny nose
- Nausea or vomiting
- Diarrhea
