What’s Tested

Heart (Cardiac) blood test panel is a targeted collection of tests designed to evaluate your risk for cardiovascular disease and related metabolic conditions. By assessing factors such as cholesterol type, lipoprotein particles, inflammation, and amino acid metabolism, this panel offers a more comprehensive picture of heart and blood vessel health than standard cholesterol tests alone. Advanced cardiovascular panels are valuable for those with a family history of heart disease, known risk factors, or anyone aiming for a proactive approach to heart health.

This cardiometabolic test includes key markers that look beyond basic cholesterol, covering aspects like cholesterol transport, vessel inflammation, and plaque risk—all crucial for precision prevention and management of cardiovascular conditions.

What’s being tested:

  • Lipid Panel: Measures cholesterol (total, HDL, LDL) and triglycerides to assess risk for heart disease and vascular problems.

  • Apolipoprotein A1:
The major protein component of HDL (“good” cholesterol), ApoA1 is involved in reverse cholesterol transport—helping clear cholesterol from arteries. Higher levels are generally protective against cardiovascular disease.

  • Apolipoprotein B:
Found in LDL and other atherogenic particles, ApoB reflects the total number of potentially harmful cholesterol particles in the blood. Elevated ApoB is associated with higher risk of cardiovascular events and may be a stronger predictor of heart disease than LDL cholesterol alone.

  • CRP, High Sensitivity (C-Reactive Protein, hs-CRP):
A marker of systemic inflammation, hs-CRP is useful for evaluating ongoing vascular inflammation that contributes to plaque instability and higher heart attack and stroke risk—even when cholesterol is normal.

  • High-Sensitivity C-Reactive Protein (hs-CRP): Detects inflammation in the body, which is a marker for increased cardiovascular disease risk.

  • Complete Metabolic Panel (CMP): Checks blood sugar, electrolytes, kidney, and liver function, which can all impact heart health.
  • Complete Blood Count (CBC): Evaluates red and white blood cells and platelets, helping to detect anemia or infection that may affect cardiac function.

This cardiometabolic panel offers a more precise evaluation of cardiovascular risk by combining standard markers with advanced indicators of cholesterol particle number, inflammation, and vessel integrity. These tests help personalize prevention strategies and monitor the effectiveness of interventions, supporting optimal heart and vascular health maintenance.
